Atsumi works between fine art and the everyday, painting onto fabric so that texture and pigment hold each other. The result sits somewhere between a painting and a textile — alive to the light it hangs in.

Her building portraits began as a private commission and grew into a series of their own. Each is collaged by hand from photographs, finding the character of a place in its windows, brick and weather.
